At Timeular we strive to make the process of tracking your time as effortless as possible – with and without the physical Tracker. That’s why we’re super excited to release desktop app version 3.5 today which includes our long-awaited keyboard shortcut, QuickTrack.

We’ve also rolled out a number of bug fixes and performance improvements to enhance your experience of our desktop and mobile apps.

Introducing QuickTrack

There may be occasions when you’re in the middle of a task and want to start tracking something new without losing your flow. Or maybe you left your Tracker in the office and still want the ability to track your time, wherever you are. QuickTrack solves these problems and more. Think of it as your time tracking superpower, making effortless time tracking possible with the least interruption.

Give it a try yourself

  1. Open the Timeular desktop app and ensure you are running version 3.5 (you can check this in App Settings). Top tip: enable auto-update on the App Settings page to ensure you always have the latest version of the app running
  2. From any app (e.g. Microsoft Word, VSCode, Google Chrome, command line…) hit CMD+E or CTRL+E and you should see the Quicktrack popup
  3. Search and select and activity or previous time entry ⬇️ ⬆️ and hit enter ↩
  4. The focus will go back to your previous window
Start and stop tracking from any app without interruption

Track more than 8 things

QuickTrack also lets you seamlessly create an activity and start tracking it straight away, making it simpler to switch tasks and keep on top of your time tracking efforts.

Create a custom shortcut

It’s also simple to create and customize a shortcut to access QuickTrack. Just open the App Settings > Popup and then enter a combination e.g. CMD+K or CTRL+Shift+E. The shortcut will be applied immediately.

Performance improvements and bug fixes

The 3.5 desktop release includes fixes to the date layout, support messenger and analytics filter display. We’ve also launched web hooks in our public API enabling custom integrations to connect, update and sync other things in real-time.

New mobile app + iPad support

While our last mobile app update was about bringing more stability, our latest one is about bringing some beauty. Enjoy a visual uplift including a faster way to edit your time entries. We’ve also removed a few bugs as well. Download now on iOS and Android.

We’re now officially supporting iPads as well. No more iPhone app stuck in portrait mode!

What else is in the pipeline?

Later this month we’ll be rolling out an integration with Zapier, making it simple to automate your workflows and connect Timeular with over 2,000 apps.
